Geneveve – A non-surgical solution to stress incontinence
Viveve, the brains behind the Geneveve, have recently announced results from a recent study on the stress incontinence treatment.
Viveve, the brains behind the Geneveve, have recently announced results from a recent study on the stress incontinence treatment. The treatment uses cryogen-cooled monopolar radiofrequency technology to warm the vaginal tissues and boost the body’s natural collagen and elastin. These areas of the body often become damaged and weakened through childbirth and the natural ageing process.
In this recent study, conducted in Canada, 36 women with stress incontinence were treated with Geneveve and followed up 6 months later. The results included: pad-weight testing (which measures urine leakage onto an absorbent sanitary pad), combined with patient completed symptom and quality of life questionnaires.
Amazingly 83% of women experienced a significant reduction in urinary leaks. So for women affected by stress incontinence this can mean less worry about embarrassing leaks, reduced usage of sanitary pads, improved self-confidence, and the ability to get back to normal activities.
An additional benefit of the treatment includes tightening of the vaginal tissues and improved sexual function.
Cosmetech, Maypole Clinic is the only clinic in Ireland offering the Geneveve treatment.
Dr Patrick Campbell from the Maypole Cosmetech Clinic, who has been asked to carry out his own study into the treatment, commented ‘the results of this study are extremely encouraging. Geneveve offers women the option of a clinically proven, painless, non-surgical treatment for stress incontinence with no recovery period.’
