23rd, July 2013

Last night Prince William and the Duchess of Cambridge celebrated the arrival of a baby boy.

Last night Prince William and the Duchess of Cambridge celebrated the arrival of a baby boy.

In an historical first for the Royal Family, the announcement which broke from normal tradition was made via social media in a last minute decision from the Prince and his wife.

The great news was posted on The British Monarchy Facebook page read:

"Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Cambridge was safely delivered of a son at 4.24pm."

"The baby weighs 8lbs 6oz. The Duke of Cambridge was present for the birth."

"The Queen, The Duke of Edinburgh, The Prince of Wales, The Duchess of Cornwall, Prince Harry and members of both families have been informed and are delighted with the news."

"Her Royal Highness and her child are both doing well and will remain in hospital overnight."

The baby was delivered at 4:24pm at St Mary's Hospital in Paddington, west London, weighing 8lb 6oz.

The next morning a Royal easel announcing the birth was placed in the forecourt of Buckingham Palace in London declaring the announcement to the public.

News of the Royal birth has quickly become worldwide news

At 3fivetwo we are all excited to know what name they have decided for the new baby prince.

It had been speculated that Kate had been carrying a baby girl earlier in her pregnancy but this news will no doubt have people wondering what boys name they will choose.

Some couples opt not to know the sex of their baby and ultrasound scans can sometimes be wrong in determining the sex.  For couples who do want to know the sex of their baby with certainty or have a medical expert determine that their baby is healthy and does not have any deformities, a 4D scan, which implements the newest scanning technology, allows couples to see their unborn baby in stunning dimensions.
