Mr Damian McKay is a well established, respected, General and Colorectal Surgeon. He trained in Northern Ireland and during that time was awarded a Doctorate from The Queen’s University of Belfast for his research into Inflammatory Bowel Diseases (IBD).

After completing his surgical training he was appointed as the Colorectal Surgical Society of Australia and New Zealand (CSSANZ) and Colorectal Fellow at Royal Adelaide Hospital, South Australia where he spent a year further developing his surgical skills. On returning from Australia Mr McKay completed the European Board of Surgery board certification in Coloproctology examinations leading to the award of EBS Coloproctology and was appointed as Consultant Surgeon to the Southern Health and Social Care Trust.
 
Mr McKay has had a high volume of Colorectal Cancer and IBD practice based at Craigavon Area Hospital and through his private practice based at Kingsbridge Private Hospital Belfast. Mr Mc Kay has recently expanded his private practice and has joined the team at Kingsbridge Private Hospital in Sligo. He has very high levels of patient satisfaction and very low levels of complications in all areas of his practice. Mr McKay is soon to step down after completing a term as Regional Colorectal Cancer Clinical Reference Group lead at the Northern Ireland Caner Network after considerable work to improve colorectal cancer care in Northern Ireland through a number of regional initiatives.
 
His main areas of private practice include:

Investigation and management of Gastrointestinal disease - Diverticular disease, Colorectal cancer, Inflammatory bowel disease. 
Endoscopy services - Colonoscopy, Flexible sigmoidoscopy and OGD.
Treatment of common perianal conditions - Piles, Fistula in Ano, Pilonidal disease.
Surgery for common general surgical conditions - inguinal hernia repair, incisional hernia repair, gallbladder disease.
