Dr David Morgan is a Consultant Gynaecologist. On completing his core training he was appointed to a minimal access fellowship/Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland lecturer position in West Sussex, England and Dublin, Ireland.
In this 2 year period of special training Dr Morgan developed expertise in minimally invasive techniques including hysterectomy, ovarian surgery, treatment of endometriosis and hysteroscopic procedures such as endometrial resection, myomectomy and septum/adhesion resection.
Dr Morgan became proficient in outpatient diagnosis and management of menstrual disorders, post-menopausal bleeding and cervical pre-cancer.
He successfully completed all taught modules for the University of Surrey MSc in advanced gynaecological endoscopy (Distinction). Teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate level was an integral part of his fellowship and included participation in the development of a teaching program for the Dublin Laparoscopic Skills course.
Following consultant appointment Dr Morgan has developed an interest in risk management and chair the trust clinical risk group. This has led to an interest in quality improvement and patient safety. His role includes chairing serious adverse incident reviews in the trust for maternity and gynaecology incidents. He is also a reviewer for RCOG’s Each Baby Counts project.
